Strava auto upload?

Postby dannyst » Thu Nov 07, 2013 4:14 am

I track all my rides via Strava. I typically don't bother to log my training rides on Strava, but if the program automatically did so, that would be pretty cool.

An auto-upload to Strava is actually something I would like to have as well. You can do it manually as Burnt Toast pointed out, but an auto upload would be better.

Unfortunately, Strava is pretty picky about who they give access to their API. I applied for API access and never had it granted. Read more about the issue here:

I encourage you to contact Strava and ask them to become more open and/or grant PeriPedal API access.

An update on this-- PeriPedal has been granted Strava API access!

I have a few other things I need to finish up first, but this is going to be near the top of my list on new features to implement.

I have a version with auto upload available for testing! You can check it out here:

http://www.peripedal.com/download/PeriP ... Strava.exe

In the user profiles area you will see a new section for Strava. Click on the "Connect to Strava" button, log into your Strava account, authorize PeriPedal, then save your profile. After that all future workouts will be automatically uploaded to Strava. Only workouts that you choose to save will be uploaded. If you choose to delete a workout that workout will not be uploaded. I've used it for a few workouts now and it seems to work well. Let me know what you think.

While you are at it you might consider joining the newly created PeriPedal Strava club:

I know that the auto upload for Strava is working well for me and for a friend of mine who has also started using Peripedal. I am really loving that feature in particular. Strava is where I track all my workouts, so having that integration is a really nice plus. Having the software create fit files is awesome, and then getting that added integration is like a cherry on top. It certainly is yet another advantage and value that Peripedal provides over the monthly perscription software that shall not be named :). I for one have been very happy to find Peripedal.

I don't have internet access in my garage where I do the workouts so when I save the workout the Strava auto upload fails with an rather alarming unknown exception error.

Related feature request: It would be nice if I could select a ride from the history and choose to upload it from there. I know I can do it manually, but since the Strava API is now there, this would be a little quicker!

Hi Bobones,

What version of PeriPedal are you using? I would not expect the Strava upload issue you mentioned to occur in v2.3.3.

I'll add your request to the list of wants!
