Customizing workouts and history directories

Love Peripedal. I have been using it three times a week since early January. This last upgrade, 1.50 was really nice and as I am a long time user of Training Peaks, I especially like the auto upload feature.

Would it be possible for some future version to give the user the ability to customize the location of the Workouts directory and the History directory?

After this last upgrade, I see where you have training plans and more workouts. What directory are they located in? Are they hidden? I saw many new workouts in this last upgrade but did not find them in my PeriPedal directory.

When I find a PP plan or a workout that I like I would like to make a copy of it and put it into my custom workout directory. That way, the only workouts or plans in my custom directory are the ones that I have also in my TP library. Since I started using PeriPedal I have been building up my Training Peaks workout library to include the Peripedal workouts. I make sure the same workout in each library has the same name so when I am building my workouts in TP for the next 4 week cycle I just add the PP workout to a particular day, then on that day, I check my TP calendar to see what workout is scheduled.

In addition to uploading all my workouts to TP, I keep a local copy of all my completed workouts in a common directory. I would like to have peripedal save my trainer workouts to that same directory so i don't have to remember to copy each completed workout.

I hope all that makes some sense to you.

Again, thanks for a great program.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the compliments! I'm glad to hear you like the new features, the Training Peaks auto-upload is also one of my personal favorite new features.

In 1.5.0 all of the PeriPedal original workouts are bundled into the application (the .exe) itself. This was done to avoid confusion that could occur if a user moved or modified the original files, then upgraded, then saw either duplicates of the files or had the changes they made removed. It was also done to make sure that workouts that are part of training plans exist (meaning the user can't accidentally delete them). The Sufferfest workouts are not part of the application, and are still located in the "(User's Documents)\PeriPedal\Workouts" folder. Users can drop new workout files into this folder to use them in PeriPedal.

Right now PeriPedal always uses the default locations for saving history files ("(User's Documents)\PeriPedal\Workouts\*(username)") and for storing workouts "(User's Documents)\PeriPedal\Workouts". I will consider making this user adjustable in a future version to fit your use case. Would that adjustment fit your needs?

Thank you for your feedback!
