RLVs Via PeriPedal

Ok - This may be a long shot (or a long term project) Adam.

PeriPedal is sensational - you do it better than most & i know as i've tried most of the trainer software with my Saris CycleOps - Power Beam Pro. I've learned over time to use my PBPro in Slope mode to get best results in chasing workout targets. Specific Interval workouts will always beat a trainer ride without a plan - hence your PPs ability to write up a workout is unchallenged and flows through to your flawless & robust PeriPedal software - PP has never let me down.

Alas - occasiaonally I need to 'entertain' myself (eg. long wet spell & need a break of chasing targets) and I crave to do a RLV course!

Yes - I do have CycleOps Virtual Trainer software that should control my PBPro BUT I have never ever got past 30-40 minutes before the software drops out connection with my PBPro & the RLV ride is stalled & wiped. Despite repeated requests + forums - NIL feedback regarding addressing issue from CycleOps. After countless attempts - the faulty software wins - I give up!

I am unsure if this is just a CycleOps issue or other Virtual Trainers have robust RLV software?

I realise it is another (significant) step whereby PeriPedal controls the Trainer - another option to consider?!

Hi AA,

Thanks for your request and compliments!

I like the idea and will start looking into it more, deciding the best way to do it and how much work it would require. No promises, but I will certainly consider it. If implemented this would be a long term feature, as you mentioned, probably occurring in the off season.

Thanks Again,
Adam

Just thought I'd chime in since I too am using the CycleOps Virtual Training software with my PBP. Its been working great thus far with very minor if any complaints from me. I do get momentary cadence and power drops, but nothing that causes me to quit or lock up the program.

I'm using the PC version with a Garmin Ant Stick. I also have a 6' USB extension cable so the Ant Stick is actually laying on the floor between the speed/cadence sensor and the PBP. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with my setup working or not but it may be worth the couple bucks to give it a try.

Thanks Burnt Toast.

Have tried many options including extension cable - to no avail.

It's not so much that the VT software doesn't do its job - it's the NO response from CycleOps when requesting support & giving them feedback that has me &^%$!

i have now deleted VT from my PC as I tried again 2 weeks ago to do an RLV and same dropout/disconnect.

I just look forward to Adam delivering RLV for PP!

;-)
